PostHeaderIcon Why Study Entrepreneurship

Why study entrepreneurship? What are the current phenomena in the field of management that must be addressed?

One reason for studying Entrepreneurship is because it constitutes, in many respects, the fatorchave economic development. Among the current phenomena in the field of Administration could be more detailed I can mention, first, the complex web of relations between entrepreneur and stakeholders of the company in light of a multi-stakeholder theory of the firm. A second phenomenon that can be mentioned is the relationship between ownership and control, or rather between the strategy and the behaviors of entrepreneurs, managers and shareholders and investors (also in light of globalization of financial markets and their effects, as of the stock options of directors). Other phenomena are the relationship between strategy and organizational structure, marketing strategy and relations with consumers in the global market, the study of the value chain, the relationship between economic growth and environmental preservation, which is assumed in the concept of sustainable development .

What is the current state of debate on the Entrepreneurship and Management in Italy? What are the most important Italian authors?

In Italy there are interesting researchers and scholars of business organizations as Bonazzi, Butera, Gherardi and Grandori, and industrial relations, as Ferrarotti, Baglioni, Cella and Regina. Entrepreneurship scholars are less numerous, but have produced some very interesting analysis. I can quote the researchers Pagani, Gallina and Chiesi. On the situation of the current debate Entrepreneurship in Italy, we are progressing well. Along with Antonio Chiesi and a guiding me, Dalla Chiesa, performed the most comprehensive empirical research on Italian entrepreneurs published so far, with Title I Imprenditoria grandi italiani (Milano: Feltrinelli, 1981). With Chiesi, Maraffi Lanzalaco and I published an analysis of the political representation of Italian entrepreneurs.

PostHeaderIcon Sustainable Development & Entrepreneurs Growth

How do you understand the current state of the academic field of Entrepreneurship? It is possible to speak of creation theories?

The current field of study is characterized by an imbalance between an abundance of case studies of entrepreneurial activities on the one hand, and a lack of interpretative models, on the other. The analysis of entrepreneurship is still strongly based on theoretical constructs of the classics – Schumpeter in particular – and some more recent approaches to organization theory. However, there is the need to update it and develop it using one of the best concepts from sociological theory and social sciences in general, such as – just to name a few – immersion (embededdness), social capital, trust, and stakeholder sustainable development.

PostHeaderIcon Typical of Entrepreneurship

It can be seen a resurgence in the academic studies on entrepreneurship. What is the main reason for the return?

Entrepreneurship is typically based on a research topic in various disciplines and developed by scholars who have offered interdisciplinary contributions, as Weber (a sociologist with a deep economic culture) and Schumpeter (economist with a strong sociological intuition). The renewed interest in entrepreneurship studies and return to this theme in direct to several factors: the growth of interdisciplinary collaboration between economists, sociologists, anthropologists and political scientists to mitigate the force of Marxist ideology - which draws no distinction between capitalists and entrepreneurs – and that tends to include both a trial strongly critical, recognizing the vital role that small family businesses and social entrepreneurship in economic development have a country, have shown how the theory and action figures like Muhammad Yunus (the banker to the poor “and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize 2006) and Hernando De Soto (Peruvian economist), the growing importance of entrepreneurship among women and immigrants as channels of empowerment and social integration and, finally, the growing attention to the role played by transnational corporations as global actors in the broader context of the analysis of complex processes of globalization.

PostHeaderIcon Things that Should not be Made of an Entrepreneur

  • Do not be afraid to make your own start-ups. We all fear when we begin to think about doing our start up. But once I committed to it, was the best decision I have taken in my life. But make sure that whatever the field in which to enter, you are absolutely in love and willing to spend your waking day without doing anything and focusing your energy in your start-up and the market you’re trying to attack.
  • Do not be afraid of criticism. Making a start-up is a very difficult thing to imagine for some. Some say we “are doing a start-up money without groped for something to go beyond Google,” I say that if you believe strongly enough in your vision and in yourself, you should not let someone try to make you believe that you can not do that. Some entrepreneurs have ruined the great missed opportunities swayed by the wrong people.
  • Do not ignore your users. You are nothing without your customers and users. Be sure to listen and treat each user as if it were the only customer. In Spock I would like to respond to any user on the same day with the right answers to their questions. Most importantly, many ideas that we implemented were the direct result of feedback from our users!

PostHeaderIcon Vision is important For Entrepreneur

Hire the best possible, and make sure they’re intelligent, motivated and have the “right attitude” to your business. Nothing is worse than hire people who then discover you do not adapt well to your business. Nothing is more exciting when you take really smart people who believe in your vision and that comes to you with the best ways to make this vision a reality.

Be Open (be open). We realize that the more open and transparent as we were holding to the outside world, the better this world has responded. You share your vision with key users and the press. Be sure to tell every time someone is willing to listen. It is very important that you take care to set the vision and do public relations for your business. Do not let anyone else start to define what you are.

Here are tips for entrepreneurs ABN want to launch a startup:

  • Move Fast (move quickly). The only thing I regret is not to be moved faster. For a start-up is very important to proceed quickly: from the perspective of business development, marketing and operations is not at all positive move slowly in a digital world.
  • Hire the Best (assume the best). This is the only point at which advice to take your time.
